The Miller family, owned Westside Watersports, a very successful dive operation originally on the island of Tavewa.

The Miller family’s vision also included a small dive resort and when land became available on the neighbouring island of Nanuya Lailai in 2004 they commenced building what would become Nanuya Island Resort.

The resort opened in 2005 and comprised the main building (Reception, Dining Room and Kitchen) with only 4 villas. They also operated their dive business from a small shack which is now the location of the current Boathouse Bar.

Expansion continued with the completion of the Treetop Bures, which still form an integral part of the Nanuya Island Resort experience.

Three successive cyclones, commencing in 2012, caused major damage to the resort and these events and subsequent pressures sapped the energy from the Miller family.

In late 2014, Ivan and Val Parker purchased Nanuya Island Resort.
